Die Moschee ist nach Kadı Bedreddin benannt, der als Richter in Aleppo und in Edirne diente und der Vater von Şeyh Çelebi und von Şeyhülislam Şemseddin Ahmet Efendi war. Die Quellen geben seinen Namen auch als Bedrettin Mahmud und als Mahmud bin Abdullah an.
