Sevimli Kalesi steht auf einem steilen, halbinselförmigen Hügel im Tal des Flusses Kura, etwa 500 Meter südlich des Dorfes Sevimli, das auch als Vel angegeben wird, rund 18 bis 20 Kilometer südöstlich von Hanak in Ardahan.
