Dieses Gebäude innerhalb des ummauerten Bereichs von Karadeniz Ereğli wurde von den Byzantinern als Kirche der Hagia Sophia, der Heiligen Weisheit, errichtet und wurde, nachdem es in eine Moschee umgewandelt worden war, Orhan Gazi oder Mittlere Moschee genannt.
Es liegt im Viertel Orhanlar im Zentrum von Karadeniz Ereğli, fünf Gehminuten vom Hafen und zehn vom Busbahnhof entfernt.
