Resumen
El puente se construyó en 1936–37 con un coste de 93.000 liras. El ministro de Obras Públicas de entonces, Ali Çetinkaya, dijo que se construyó «por orden del propio Atatürk»: en julio de 1934, viajando por carretera a Adapazarı por Bolu, Atatürk cruzó el puente de madera de Tavuklar, cerca de lo que hoy es Kumköy, y vio que no servía.
