Kavaklımeşe Korusu covers 71.76 hectares on the Kırklareli-Babaeski road, twelve kilometres out, at the township of Kavaklı, and it was declared a nature park on 11 July 2011. It is open 08:00 to 20:00, with capacity for 800 visitors, 110 vehicles and 220 tents — the tent figure being the largest of the three.
Most of what the source says is about the township rather than the park. Kavaklı is held to be as old as Kırklareli itself: the first settlers are thought to have been Thracians, and it is established that people lived on this ground before Christ. The Romans settled here too, and the area was among the most invaded in the crossings between continents. The old population of the town and its district is described as of mixed Roman and Greek descent, the town having stood for a long time within the Roman empire until its division in AD 395.
