This is a museum and a working library in the same building, on a public square where four Ataşehir neighbourhoods meet. The four-storey building was designed for the centenary of the Republic and is presented by the municipality as a monument to it.
The museum part is about Atatürk's life: his personal effects, objects belonging to those around him, and material from the War of Independence and the early Republic. A dedicated viewing area shows footage of his tours around the country, so the period arrives as moving image rather than only as objects in cases.
The rest of the building is meant to be used rather than looked at. There is a research library holding works on Atatürk, the Republic and the national struggle; quiet study areas and group rooms; meeting booths; space for events and talks; a small amphitheatre; and the municipality's Ata Kafe. Free internet runs throughout.
No booking is needed for the general study areas; the meeting booths are reserved by telephone through the information desk. An accessible library area is fitted with tablets carrying an audiobook application for blind and deaf visitors.
