The bridge stands where the İstanbul–Edirne road crosses the Babaeski stream, known locally as Şeytan Dere, at the Lüleburgaz exit of Babaeski. It was built in 1633, in the reign of Murad IV, on the military and trade road running from Anatolia to the Balkans.

It is a masonry bridge faced in regular cut stone, built so that it is not damaged when the river floods.
