Beksi Kalesi stands on the southern slope of Meydanok mountain, 7 kilometres northwest of Sason in Batman, near the village the Batman provincial directorate of culture and tourism calls Bekiş. It is partly ruined.
The provincial directorate says the Byzantines built it on a slope commanding the valley with strong defensive tactics in mind, and takes that as showing the castle was never captured in any period — reasoning from how it was built rather than from any record of a siege. What it does record plainly is the terrain: the position is very hard to take.
