Beksi Kalesi stands on the southern slope of Meydanok mountain, 7 kilometres northwest of Sason in Batman, near the village the source calls Bekiş. It is partly ruined.
The provincial directorate says the Byzantines built it on a slope commanding the valley with strong defensive tactics in mind, and takes that as showing the castle was never captured in any period — reasoning from how it was built rather than from any record of a siege. What it does record plainly is the terrain: the position is very hard to take.
