Bentler Nature Park covers 16.3 hectares a kilometre from the Bahçeköy quarter of Sarıyer. Established in 2011, it is one of nine nature parks within the Belgrade Forest.
The park takes its name from the historic dams that stand here: the Topuzlu dam, built in 1750, the Valide dam, built in 1796, and the New Dam, also called the dam of Mahmud II, built in 1839 north of the park. Other structures of the Ottoman period are found here as well, among them the İskara dam and old fountains. The park has two entrances, the main gate of the Belgrade Forest and the Kurtkemeri gate.
Visitors come for day walks, cycling and picnics, and there are playgrounds for children. Entry is charged for both visitors and vehicles.
The main trees are sessile oak and hornbeam. A plane tree beside the Valide dam, recorded as 269 years old, is registered as a monumental tree.
Other trees growing here include Turkish red pine among the conifers and, among the broadleaves, oriental plane, silver lime, oriental beech, Kasnak, Türkiye and Aleppo oak, ash, sweet chestnut, alder, blackthorn, medlar and Turkish hazel. The shrubs are bramble, butcher's broom and wild clematis.
The mammals that make up the park's fauna are wild boar, fox, deer, roe deer, hare and squirrel, with tortoises among the reptiles, and the birds observed include buzzards, sparrows, finches and magpies.
