Bolu Museum stands on Stadyum Caddesi in the city centre and displays 16,003 works. Work on the museum began in 1975 and it opened to visitors in 1981.
It is divided into archaeological and ethnographic sections. Besides works of the Ottoman, Phrygian, Urartian, Lydian, Greek, Roman and Byzantine periods there is material reaching back to the Neolithic and the Early Bronze Age. The ethnographic section shows clothing, jewellery, weaving, metal household objects and weapons of Bolu and the districts around it.
When to go
The museum is open every day except Monday, from 8.00 to 12.00 and from 13.00 to 17.00.
