The Yukarı Taşhan stands in the Buyukcami quarter of Bolu, on Pamukcular Sokak. The inscription over its main gate records that it was built in 1804 by Serbevvab Hacı Abdullah Ağa. It is a two-storey caravanserai of cut stone, with an open courtyard and arcades.
The entrance on the west projects from the wall as a large iwan under a barrel vault, with a round-arched main gate opening into it. Inside the entrance iwan are pointed-arched niches in the north and south walls, the stair to the upper floor, and a door on the right. The entrance front has two rectangular windows to the south of the gate, three above it and one to the north, and to the south are two shops made up of arched units. Beyond this front, the square courtyard has chamfered corners and is surrounded by thick square piers carrying round-arched arcades under cross vaults. The lower floor has five cells along each side and one at each corner, covered by mirror vaults, each with two small niches. It is in the centre of Bolu.
