The Botan valley in Siirt was declared a national park by presidential decision published in the official gazette of 15 August 2019, and its boundaries were revised by a further gazette notice on 14 September 2025. It runs through the central, Tillo and Eruh districts along a 29-kilometre course; the Directorate gives its extent as around 120,000 dönüm in its text and 11,523 hectares in its record.
Part of the historic Silk Road passes through the valley, and the park contains a number of Christian monuments: churches in the villages of Yerlibahçe, Kayaboğaz, Kalender and Koçlu, a monastery at the place called Deyr, and the monastery of Mar Yakub the Recluse, built in the 6th century.
The view most visitors come for is from Rasıl Hacar — the Delikli Taş — a hill of about 350 metres from which the park, the Botan stream below it and the surrounding country can all be seen at once. Stated capacity is 5,000 visitors and 500 vehicles.
