Dionysopolis lies near Ortaköy, about eight kilometres northwest of Çal in Denizli province.
The provincial directorate gives its history in one line of ownership: the city was founded in the period of the Seleucids, the Syrian kingdom, and later passed under the rule of the kingdom of Pergamon. It supplies no dates, and says nothing about what remains on the ground today.
