Kayalıdere Waterfalls became a nature park on 17 June 2025, covering 53.67 hectares in Asagikayalidere village in the Karadeniz Ereğli district of Zonguldak. It takes its name from the village and from the waterfalls in it.
Be clear before you go: the directorate states plainly that there are no facilities on the site at present. A day-use area is planned — an entrance control point, tent and caravan camping grounds, a country cafe, a rural tourism area, an administration and visitor centre, a canyoning area, a viewpoint, a kiosk and a children's playground — along with waymarked walking routes, but these are plans, not things you will find.
The forest is beech, hornbeam, thuja and Scots pine, with rhododendron beneath them along with water-plantain, toadflax, meadow grass, gypsywort and black locust. The animals recorded include wild boar, weasel, fox, badger, squirrel and hare, with mice and bats; among the birds are great black-headed gull, black redstart, common gull, great crested grebe, woodcock, swift and quail, and the higher ground nearby is known for raptors. The Italian wall lizard is also recorded here.
Getting there is by village minibus to Asagikayalidere or by car: from Karadeniz Ereğli take the Ormanli turning, continue towards Cayliogli village, pass Ortaköy, and turn right at the Asagikayalidere village sign.
