Konaklı Kayak Merkezi, 17 km from Erzurum city centre, is a modern resort that hosted the 2011 World University Winter Games. Its ski area of 35 km has eleven pistes spread over wide terrain at altitudes between 2,200 and 3,185 metres, suited to alpine skiing and snowboarding. The provincial directorate of culture and tourism describes it as a quieter experience, chosen especially from January to March. Together, Konaklı and Palandöken have 55 pistes, 40 of them approved by the International Ski and Snowboard Federation (FIS).

- Across Erzurum as a whole, monthly mean temperatures run from -9.1 °C in January to 19.6 °C in August; the mean stays between 15 and 25 °C in July and August; rainfall is heaviest in May (73 mm) and lightest in August (18 mm). Long-term means for 1929-2025 from the Turkish State Meteorological Service (MGM).
