The Kös spa is in the Ilicalar township of Bingöl, in the valley of the Kös stream, and it can be reached without difficulty in summer and in winter alike. It lies some twenty kilometres from Bingöl.
The provincial directorate reports that research has shown the water to have a number of benefits. It contains bicarbonate, carbonated gas and carbon dioxide, along with anions such as silicate and sulphate and cations such as aluminium and iron, and it has the character of a mineral water. Bingöl is a province rich in geothermal sources, which the directorate describes as significant potential for health tourism.

- Across Bingöl as a whole, monthly mean temperatures run from -2.1 °C in January to 26.7 °C in July; the mean stays between 15 and 25 °C in May, June and September; rainfall is heaviest in January (137 mm) and lightest in August (4 mm). Long-term means for 1961-2025 from the Turkish State Meteorological Service (MGM).
