The Laleli Mosque in İkizce, in Ordu province, is also called the Civisiz Cami — the mosque without nails — and that is what brings people to it. It is built entirely of wood, using durable oak, and is known to date from between 1560 and 1600.
It went for many years without any restoration work. A restoration project was approved in 2011 by decision of the Samsun regional conservation board, and the work was completed in 2012 under the supervision of the regional directorate of foundations, after which the mosque reopened for prayer. It is in the centre of İkizce, reached by asphalt road.
