The monastery of Mor Kuryakos stands in the village of Ayrancı, in the Beşiri district of Batman, and it has been there since the fifth century. It was built over 2,500 square metres on two floors, and it matters to more than one community.
It reopened to visitors in November 2025 after a restoration carried out in three stages under the coordination of the provincial governor's office, with the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, the provincial special administration, the Dicle Development Agency and the provincial directorate of culture and tourism working together.
The work covered the entrance, the high stone walls that enclose the complex, the burial chamber and its eastern front, and all the rooms on the upper floor, each restored to its original form. The church and the central courtyard were returned to their earlier state.
