The museum is the house Alaeddin Yavaşça grew up in, in Kilis. Yavaşça was a Turkish classical music performer and composer; the ministry restored the house and turned it into a museum where his memory is kept.
The collection is personal rather than musical in the usual sense: 143 objects covering his family life from birth to death, his school years, his medical training, his marriage to his wife Ayten, and the awards he received for his art. The house itself is offered as part of what there is to see, since it reflects traditional Kilis domestic architecture. There are ten display rooms, with 417 square metres under cover and 107 square metres of open space.
