The Til mound in Tunceli was declared a first-degree archaeological site by the conservation board in 1996; no excavation has been carried out there.
It lies about a kilometre south of the road at Kusçu village in the Mazgirt district of Tunceli, and is reached by a dirt track.

- Across Tunceli as a whole, monthly mean temperatures run from -1.8 °C in January to 27.1 °C in July; the mean stays between 15 and 25 °C in May, June and September; rainfall is heaviest in December (133 mm) and lightest in August (5 mm). Long-term means for 1960-2025 from the Turkish State Meteorological Service (MGM).
