Some parts of the underground city at Ağırnas are estimated to have been made before Christ, while it is established that the greater part of it was added in the centuries after.
The Christian-period places of worship, the beams and the paintings seen inside it show that it was in use mostly between the first and thirteenth centuries AD. It is at the township of Ağırnas in the Melikgazi district of Kayseri.
