This building at Talas was put up as a church in 1886, in the reign of Abdülhamid II, by the metropolitan Ioannis, and it is known as the Panaya church. After the Greek inhabitants left the city in the population exchange, it was converted into a mosque in 1925, when a mihrab and minbar were added on the south side.

It is built of regular cut stone, and there are shops under its terrace. It stands in the centre of Talas, reachable by public transport.
