The mosque is known locally as the Red Minaret Mosque, after its brick minaret. It was built in 1659 by Ahmet Şemsi Paşa.
It has a single dome and a single minaret, with a square porch for latecomers. It is on Adnan Menderes Bulvarı in the Güzelhisar quarter and is reached by city transport.
