Kurşunlu Manastırı lies about 10 kilometres from Davutlar in Aydın. The provincial directorate estimates it to be an eleventh-century Byzantine building rather than stating it.
What survives is a full monastic plan: refectory, cellar, kitchen, monks' cells, infirmary, a chapel, a cemetery, the monastery walls with their vaulted undercroft, and defence rooms.
The frescoes on the chapel ceiling are described in two layers. From the iconoclast period come symbolic and geometric motifs; from the second half of the ninth century, after that period, come depictions of religious events or figures. Those ninth-century frescoes sit oddly against an eleventh-century date for the building, and the source does not resolve it.
