One large dome roofs the square prayer hall of Kaleiçi Camii in Kuşadası, a mosque also known as Öküz Mehmet Paşa Camii. It has no inscription, but its endowment deed shows that it went up in the 17th century together with Öküz Mehmet Paşa's caravanserai.
The timber-framed late-comers' porch on the north side was added in 1830. The main door is a fine piece of Ottoman woodwork, its leaves worked in interlocking geometric patterns and decorated with small pieces of mother-of-pearl inlay. The drum of the dome is ringed by sixteen round-arched windows, with columns painted in oil between each pair. The round-arched mihrab niche is flanked by slender colonnettes carrying a pediment, both baroque in character.
