The museum is two museums stacked on each other, and the split is worth knowing before you go in. The ground floor is given to the national resistance movement, the Kuvayı Milliye, and the floor above it to Ali Fuat Cebesoy himself.
Downstairs, entered from the south front, a central hall has three rooms to each side. One is a library; the rest are hung with photographs of the people who served in the Kuvayı Milliye period, the texts of the Amasya, Erzurum and Sivas congresses, copies of Atatürk's Tenth Year Speech in his own hand, and a chronology with maps to put the sequence in order.
The upper floor is reached by concrete stairs on the west face of the building and entered at the northwest corner. Cebesoy's clothes, his bedstead, his medals, documents, photographs and his sketches of battles are shown in the hall and the rooms around it. The whole collection comes to 73 items, 26 of them ethnographic and 47 archive documents.
The house stands in the Alifuatpaşa quarter of Geyve on the bank of the Sakarya, immediately behind the Merkez Mosque, a two-storey masonry building that served as the municipal offices before a council decision in 1989 handed its use to the provincial administration. It opened as a museum on 30 October 1989.
It is open every day except Monday, from 08:00 to 12:00 and from 12:30 to 16:30.
