This is a nineteenth-century Ottoman building of cut stone at Battalgazi, used by Atatürk when he came to Malatya in 1931 and in 1937. It served afterwards as a people's house and then as an adult education centre, and was turned into a museum through later work.
The museum is laid out as one hall and six separate rooms: a conference hall, a room displaying the objects Atatürk used when he came to Malatya, the Atatürk Library, and photographs of the republican period. It is on Atatürk Caddesi and is reached by city transport.
