Malatya Museum is an archaeological and ethnographic museum on Kernek Meydanı. A smaller museum was founded in 1971, and the present building came into service in 1979.
Most of the works held here came out of excavations at Arslantepe, Pirot, Cafer Höyük, Köşkerbaba, İmamoğlu and Değirmentepe. There are also objects found during the construction of the Karakaya dam.
The collection covers the Neolithic, Chalcolithic and Bronze Ages and the Hittite, Urartian, Roman, Byzantine, Seljuk, Anatolian principalities and Ottoman periods.
