The mosque on Cumhuriyet Caddesi in Erzurum was built in 1645 by Hacı Cafer, son of Ebubekir. Its three domes in front, carried on four columns and open to the front and sides, had been hidden under a sloping roof; the restoration of 2006 brought them back into view.
Inside, a single dome covers the space, resting on squinches at the corners and showing outside as a three-stepped octagonal drum. The building is of cut stone and rubble. It is in the centre, on a walkable stretch of Cumhuriyet Caddesi, and public transport reaches it from most parts of the city.
