The museum was planned in 2016 under the name Museum of Surgical Hand Instruments, to be opened by converting the disused maintenance and repair station of the Turkish State Railways at Samsun.
Restoration of the ninety-year-old building began in June 2017 through a collaboration between the provincial governorship, the metropolitan municipality, the provincial health directorate and the Samsun Medical Industry Cluster Association, and the work was completed two years later with the support of the Middle Black Sea Development Agency, which joined the project later.
The museum was transferred to the Samsun Medical Industry Cluster Association in July 2019. Sixteen thousand surgical hand instruments are displayed here, and as of its opening on 3 December 2021 it is, according to Turkish Wikipedia, the first museum of medical instruments in Türkiye.
