The Dental Health Museum was set up by DİŞSİAD, the association of dental materials manufacturers and businesspeople, to put the history of dentistry and the heritage of the dental industry in front of the public. Planning started in 2018, specialists and institutions contributed, and the museum opened on 24 March 2022; it operates under the supervision of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism.
It runs over two floors, and the subjects are handled in sequence: the archaeology of the tooth, dental anatomy, oral care, dental disease, and the history of dentistry itself, alongside objects and documents relating to dental health from earlier periods to the present.
The museum has been active beyond its displays since opening — workshops for students, exhibitions made with artists, and a collection that has grown through donations from association members and practising dentists. It has also worked jointly with dental museums in Germany and Britain. Its stated approach is to treat dental health not purely as a medical subject but as something bound up with history, art and culture.
