Gülbaba's tomb is in the cemetery of Güllüce Köyü, in Niğde's central district. Gülbaba, also called Misâli Baba, lived some time between 1600 and 1700, and the story told about him explains both his name and the village's.
When Murat IV camped with his army near the village on the way to Bağdat, the grand vizier came to Gülbaba for food for the troops, and Gülbaba fed the soldiers and their animals from very little. The sultan then visited him in person and gave him gifts, and in the middle of winter Gülbaba drew a fresh white rose from his breast and offered it to him. From then on the village was called Güllüce and Misâli Baba became Gülbaba.
