The tomb is in the Bor district and dates from the 13th century, repaired at various times since. Sarı Saltuk was a contemporary of Hacı Bektaş Veli.
He is a figure of Turkish literary history as much as of religious tradition: Fuat Köprülü treats him in İlk Mutasavvıflar, and the Saltukname tells the story of the man described as the master of Taptuk Emre.
