The mosque properly called the Hasan Kethüda Mosque, known locally as the Hasan Ağa Mosque, stands in Adana about 150 metres south of the Yağ Mosque, and when it was built is not known. A story told locally has it that while Ramazanoğlu Piri Pasha was away from Adana as governor-general, his steward Hasan Ağa, son of Abdullah, who was supervising the building of the Great Mosque, had this one built with the material left over from that work. How much truth there is in the story is not established, but the two buildings do have a great deal in common besides the lengthwise spaces flanking the prayer hall: the grooved tiles covering the domes, the tilework, and the coloured stone of the mihrabs and minbars. Given those similarities, and given that the Great Mosque was finished in 1541 and that the most recent of the tile-clad sarcophagi in its tomb is dated 1552, the mosque can be placed in the middle of the sixteenth century.
It is known to have undergone two major repairs, in 1814 and 1946. Those repairs altered the rectangular spaces on either side of the prayer hall and removed entirely the arcades that ran along three sides of the courtyard. What survives from the original building is the prayer hall, the minaret and part of the porch. The mosque is in the Sariyakup quarter of Seyhan, just behind the Yağ Mosque.
