The Sabancı Central Mosque stands in the Reşatbey quarter of Adana, south of Merkez Park and on the west bank of the Seyhan river. It opened in 1998, and the provincial directorate describes it as the largest mosque in Türkiye and in the Middle East.
Its main dome is thirty-two metres across. The architect of the project was Necip Dinç.
The mosque holds twenty thousand people, or twenty-eight thousand when the open ground around it is used, and with its porch it covers 6,600 square metres. It rests on nine great piers.
It was built in the classical Ottoman manner. Seen as a whole it resembles the Sultan Ahmet Mosque, while in plan and in its interior it follows the Selimiye.
The mosque lies on the eastern side of the city centre and is very easily reached by public transport.
