The mosque stands in a village fifteen kilometres from Akçakoca, built by Hemşin people who came from Artvin after the Russo-Turkish war of 1877. It is among the best examples of the çantı type — timber walls built up from horizontal logs notched into one another at the corners, without nails.
The two floors are built differently. The first is stonework and the second uses the çantı technique. The mosque is close to 150 years old.
Its minaret is wooden as well, and what draws attention inside is the work on the ceiling, the mihrab and the minbar.
