Guide

The Hittite Trail is a network of waymarked walking and cycling routes in Çorum province that follow old roads between three Hittite sites: Hattusa, Alacahöyük and Şapinuva. At its centre is a 2,634-hectare national park, set up in 1988 in Boğazkale district, which contains the ruins of Hattusa, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and the Alacahöyük burial mound.

The Governorship of Çorum planned the network and completed the work in October 2010. Seventeen walking routes add up to 236 kilometres, waymarked on roads once used by trading caravans and by people on the move; counting the alternative paths, the total comes to 385 kilometres. Six mountain-bike routes cover a further 406 kilometres.
