The Malazgirt Museum stands in the district where the battle of 1071 was fought, and it opened in 2021 as a branch of the Muş Museum. The battle itself is presented as a miniature reconstruction of the Seljuk army facing the Byzantine empire.
Beyond that the museum ranges widely. There are images of Ottoman sultans and of war heroes, cultural objects representing different regions of Türkiye, and pieces standing for the Ottoman period — among them a Taksim tram. A section on the republic and its war heroes holds a model of the Bandırma ferry, a statue of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk as commander-in-chief, and photographs of women who fought in the republican period; a tank is displayed here too, along with photographs of the night of 15 July 2016 and of those who died.
The museum also shows the everyday tools, crafts and material of life in the region.
