The Muş Museum opened in 2021 in the Atatürk Primary School building of 1938. Its collection was assembled from excavation, purchase, seizure and donation.
The archaeological halls run in sequence from the Chalcolithic through the Early, Middle and Late Bronze Ages and the Early Iron Age, the Middle Iron Age — that is, Urartu — and on through the Hellenistic, Roman, East Roman, Seljuk and Ottoman periods.
The ethnographic hall is Ottoman and domestic: necklaces, belts and belt buckles, bracelets, headpieces, healing bowls, vases, candlesticks, samovars, cigarette holders, coffee grinders, swords, daggers, powder flasks and pistols.
Two further spaces sit outside that division: a hall devoted to Sultan Alparslan and the battle of Manzikert, and a children's education area.
