This single-span bridge stands in a deep valley between high mountains in the Şemdinli district of Hakkari, its two feet set on the rock on either side. It runs north to south, is 21 metres long and 11 high, and belongs to the group of single-arch bridges with a sloping roadway. It is thought to have been built in 1898 by Şeyh Muhammed Sıddık.
It carries the road that connects Nehri with Derecik and on to Iraq, and lies four kilometres from the village of Nehri, also called Bağlar — which is why the bridge itself goes by three names: Nehri, Bağlar and Şemdinli Taş Köprü. It is reached by road.
