The Toy House in Karadeniz Ereğli began as a municipal toy house and workshop in July 2021 and was granted private museum status by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism in January 2023, which the museum says made it the ninth toy museum in the country. The museum gives its collection as some 600 toys and says it is still growing.
It runs as a 'living museum': alongside the displays there are weekday and weekend workshops in a range of fields for children, teenagers and adults, and the museum is also used as an out-of-school learning space.
