This museum is a single hotel room. Number 101 at the Pera Palace is where Mustafa Kemal Atatürk stayed when he came to the hotel, where he worked during some of the most critical periods for the country, and where he received many of his guests.
The hotel's other rooms carry famous names too — Agatha Christie, Alfred Hitchcock, Queen Elizabeth II, Greta Garbo, Zsa Zsa Gabor, the Shah of Iran — and most of them can still be booked. Room 101 cannot: on the centenary of Atatürk's birth it was turned into a museum room instead.
What is shown is what was his: personal effects, books, gifts sent to him, and newspapers and magazines of the period.
The room is open to anyone, every day, between 10:00 and 11:00 and again between 15:00 and 16:00, with visits capped at 50 people. The hotel is at Meşrutiyet Caddesi No 52, Tepebaşı.
