The Sırakayalar waterfalls lie at the entrance to and within the village of Sırakayalar in the central district of Bayburt, twenty-two kilometres from the city. The water falls from a height of twenty metres. The falls are used as a recreation ground in summer and are known to freeze in winter. They are not registered as a protected site and come under the forest management directorate.
The two falls lie four or five hundred metres apart. Information about how they formed is limited; the research notes of the documentary director Gültekin Gün, who studied them in 2010, record that they formed as the result of subsidence along a fault line, between what are thought to be two metamorphic rocks.
The streams that feed the falls rise on the slopes of the Divanyolu mountains and Kırklar Tepe, join the Kopuz stream at the Komönü and Başçayırlar localities in the village of Yaylalar, and make the Sırakayalar falls at the entrance to and inside the village.
