The Stone School is still a school: the address given for it is the İsmet İnönü middle school, and the building has served as a high school, a middle school and a fine arts high school. Work on it began in 1886 and it opened in 1893 under its first name, the İdadi school. It is two storeys, built of cut stone, in the central district of Çankiri.
The room visitors come for is a classroom. Atatürk was put up here on the night of 31 August 1925, during the tour of the country he made over the hat reform, and the classroom, furnished as the means of the day allowed, has since been turned into the Atatürk Room. The source does not say on what terms it can be seen.
