Zengibar castle stands on the mountain slope that Darende backs onto, west of the Tohma stream, on the ground between the tomb of Somuncu Baba and the Ottoman cemetery; it is an Ottoman building. Stretches of its walls are still standing here and there, on the ground at the top of the hill and in the parts nearer the Tohma.
The way in was set where the steep rocks allow a passage, on a sheer slope: a single gateway of cut stone, and because the rocks elsewhere are vertical there was no other way through. On its west side the castle drops by a steep slope to the Ottoman cemetery.
