Our compilation for Pamukkale, not an official itinerary. The core of it is a single site: the travertine terraces and the ancient city of Hierapolis stand on the same hill, a few hundred metres apart, and the Direkli church belongs to the same ground.
Some stops sit away from that core. Laodikeia lies about ten kilometres south — a separate ancient city, large enough to take a morning on its own. The thermal centre at Gölemezli is north-west of the terraces and belongs to the same geology: the water that built the white terraces comes from the same system.
The order given here runs from the southern site up to the terraces and then north; taking it in reverse works equally well, and the hill is the fixed point either way.
No walking or driving times are given anywhere in this guide, because we have no road data and a straight-line distance is not a driving time. What each place is, when it was last checked and which source says so is on its own page.
