Aksu Tabiat Parkı was declared on 10 August 2021 and covers 68.06 hectares in Çorum province, on the Kargı–Sinop road. Its development plan has been prepared under the National Parks Law and has reached the approval stage.
What the park is built around is the Aksu pond and the Scots and black pine forest surrounding it. The pond is not natural: it was constructed by the State Hydraulic Works for irrigation, and it is the combination of that water with the forest around it that draws visitors. The coniferous woodland is dominated by black pine and Scots pine.
The animals living in and around the area include red deer, roe deer, bear, lynx, wolf, fox, wild boar, brown hare, the banded newt and the pine marten.
There are no built facilities. The area has been zoned into a sustainable-use and a controlled-use area: a tour route, walking paths, a viewpoint and a rest point are planned for the first, and a tent camping ground, caravan ground, day-use area, country restaurant, administrative building and entrance control points for the second. For now, walking on the forest paths is possible, and picnicking is allowed within the controlled-use area. Stated capacity is 150 visitors and 50 vehicles. The park is 20 kilometres from Kargı, 135 from Çorum, 107 from Kastamonu, 280 from Ankara and 550 from İstanbul.
