The mosque stands just west of the Alacahan caravanserai at Alacahan in the Kangal district of Sivas, to the left of the entrance through the fortified wall. Its date of building is not known for certain; it is thought to have gone up in the same years as the caravanserai.
Two inscriptions give two dates and the source does not reconcile them: the one inside records a repair carried out in 1818 by Mahmud Bey, son of Hasan Bey, while the one on the east side of the minaret's base reads 1757. The square main room is covered by a low dome carried on squinches at the corners, and on the lime plaster inside there are traces of painted flowers and lettering, now beginning to fade. The minaret is slender and built of black and white stone.
