The museum stands beside the Sakarya river and the historic bridge of Bayezid II. It is a two-storey masonry building and opened to visitors on 30 October 1989 as the Kuvayı Milliye and Ali Fuat Cebesoy Museum.
The ground floor is arranged as the Kuvayı Milliye museum. It is entered from the south front, and has a hall in the middle with three rooms on either side, six in all. The room immediately right of the entrance is the office and the one on the left the library; the rest serve as exhibition rooms.
Hung on the walls of those rooms are photographs of the people who took part in the national forces, the texts of the congresses of Amasya, Erzurum and Sivas, photocopies of the Tenth Year Address in Atatürk's own hand, and a chronology of the period with further photographs and maps.
Concrete stairs on the west face of the building lead to an entrance at the north-west corner, which opens into a hall. In that hall and the rooms around it are Ali Fuat Cebesoy's clothes, his bedstead, his medals, documents, photographs and battle sketches.
The collection numbers seventy-three items in all: twenty-six ethnographic objects and forty-seven archival documents.
The museum is open every day but Monday, from 8.00 to 12.00 and from 12.30 to 16.30, in every season, and admission is free.
