The Delta Technology Museum sits inside the Delta Mobilya works at Çatalca, on the western edge of İstanbul, and was founded by the Adem Yılmaz Education and Culture Foundation. Work on it started in 2002. Its stated aim is to document the last 150 years of technological change and to show where that technology stands today.
The distinguishing thing about the collection is that the machines still work. Everything on display is in usable, running order, and the museum says plainly that the objects are arranged as they happen to fall rather than to a strict scheme — so the visit is closer to walking through a working depot than through a curated sequence of rooms.
The displays are grouped by trade: metalworking and woodworking, textile machinery, printing, agricultural implements, automotive technology, bicycles and motorcycles, weighing instruments, photographic and computing technology, military radio and communications equipment, radio and television, musical instruments, and sewing machines. The larger pieces are outside — a historic locomotive, a train and an aircraft stand in the museum garden.
